Solidarity, mutuality

Here we examine forms of solidarity and mutuality that have been evolved in 'solidarity economy', 'fairtrade' and other economies under civil-society relations of production.

Specifically, we are concerned to identify emergent, distinctive **relations of production**.

An example is what Robin Murray modestly referred to as ‘networking’ in the FairTrade coop-production networks of TWIN Trading.

This can be understood as an instance of “stories from elsewhere” - one of the Six Rs of civil society organising - **reporting**.

Before getting too analytical about things, it's wise to consider activism broadly, ‘in the wild’. Here we do this by engaging with 'six Rs' of practice in the mutual sector'

At the heart of this practice is making the particularity of labour and life in sectors of the provisioning network visible to other workers elsewhere in the network, and **appreciated** by them. That is, cultivating **mutuality** - mutual awareness, solidarity.

This is a practice of 'subjective socialisation of labour’, in conscious opposition to capital’s merely *objective* socialisation of labour thro - digital **machinery of accounting** and - **corporate enclosure** of creativity and problem-solving capability (total quality management, agile manufacturing, etc). - etc
